The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena will have its collectible items and equipment auctioned off on Wednesday, July 13th, starting at 10:00AM PDT, before its demolition takes place to make way for a new soccer stadium. The auction will be managed by GA Global Partners of Los Angeles.

Inspection of the Sports Arena’s items going up for auction will be held on Tuesday, July 12th at the Sports Arena from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Registration for the auction will be online, and managed by the GA Global Partners of Los Angeles. You can Sign-Up Here.

Assets from the iconic Sports Arena will be sold during this one-day online auction on July 13th. Music fans, sports fans and memorabilia collectors will have the chance to own a unique piece of Los Angeles history.

Included in the auction will be Stadium Seating, Turnstiles, Concession Stands, Scoreboards, Dasher Boards, Hockey Goals, Stages, Risers, Player Locker Rooms, and Stadium Signage, Banners and Photos. Other items will include Commercial Speakers, Stage/Show Lighting, Restaurant Equipment, Arena Club Furnishings, Bars, Media Room Equipment, Boilers, Chillers, Break Room Equipment, Executive Office Furniture and more than 50 years of accumulation from this Southern California landmark stadium.

SAA marvel of modern architecture, the Sports Arena became a fixture in Southern California’s music, sports and convention scene for nearly six decades. Vice President Richard M. Nixon delivered the dedication address for the Sports Arena on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 1958.

Among the many notable events that have taken place at the Sports Arena are the 1960 Democratic National Convention where John F. Kennedy, then a 43-year-old senator from Massachusetts, was nominated for the Democratic presidential nomination; two NCAA Basketball Championships (men in 1968, women in 1992); NBA Championship series between the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics (1962, 1963, 1965, 1966;, an NBA All-Star Game (1963); the boxing competition for the XXIIIrd Olympiad, and countless memorable concerts.

The Los Angeles Lakers called the Sports Arena home upon moving to Los Angeles from their native Minneapolis (from 1960-67, NBA); as did the Clippers (from San Diego, 1984-99, NBA); USC Basketball (1959-2006, NCAA); UCLA Basketball (1959-65, NCAA); the Cobras (1988, Arena Football); the Kings (1967); the Ice Dogs (1995-96, IHL); the Blades (1961-67, WHL); the Sharks (1972-74, WHA), and the Stars (1968-70, ABA).

Major concerts at the Arena have included The Who, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Green Day, the Killers, U2, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam and countless other national and internationally known artists. Bruce Springsteen played 38 concerts at the Sports Arena, calling the building “the dump that jumps!”
